The Assessor's Office is charged by the state to estimate the market value of
the more than
46,000 parcels of property within York Township--then assess each property at
one-third of market value. Real estate taxes to support the various taxing
bodies are based on these assessments and result from those taxing districts
applying their tax rates to assessments. Governing boards elected in each
district set the budgets for that taxing district.

My staff and I have recently completed the 2019 General Reassessment.
As required by state statutes, we have reassessed ALL real property located in York Township. This reassessment involved an examination of sales
activity that occurred during the preceding 3 years (2016, 2017, & 2018). Using these sales, we determine the fair market value of real estate
and assess at 1/3 of indicated market value. It should be noted, the three-year sale activity requirement means our assessments will historically
lag behind market activity.
Property valuations are made by certified personnel who live in our communities and who have a vested interest in providing fair, accurate, and
equitable assessments. As homeowners and property tax-payers ourselves, we know the assessment process can be confusing. We work every day to
ensure we have accurate information on the more than 46,000 parcels in York Township, and our goal is to provide personal and responsive service
to all our constituents.
As a result of the 2019 General Reassessment, it is anticipated that many property owners will want to discuss their assessment with office
staff. We have added additional functionality to our website that will allow you to contact office personnel directly related to your
inquiry. However, your understanding of increased wait times when contacting our office during this busy time is greatly appreciated. We
